More on GJC 2014
Thanks Sankar for initiating the spirit of building up the excitement of Celebrating Golden Jubilee. Yes !! its going to be once in a lifetime event for us. As many of us rightly said its we (Alumni) who have to take active initiative in coordination with the present management in school to make it really an event to member. Its right time for us to form a special Golden Jubilee Management Team so that concept and master planning is done and start working on it..
I believe we have a very good number of alumni who are well placed around the globe and will make significant contributions to make it a grand event.
I suggest to make a Golden Jubilee Management Team as early as possible so that the team starts working on the overall concept. Lets have sub-team for Fund Generation/Collection, Event Management, Publications & Communications, Logistics, Events like panel discussion, Sports activities, Cultural Nite, Concerts, Involving distinguish Peronalities etc...
I am sure many of us will come forward....
Well guys this is just my thoughts which i am sharing.... please lets have more discussion on this so that ideas start pouring.
i am based in Dubai at present and i extend all possible support from my end..
Lets do it guys !!
Love & regards,

dear friend & brothers pls read this comment /suggestion
dear friends & bro'r, I am posting an very imp suggestion sent to me by amitab da, lachit house roll no:2357
Building a bar in rupnagar and drinking discounted scotch from the CSD is not my idea of development, I'm sorry!
Having said that, if anyone does think of doing something towards overall development of the the educational infrastructure, pls comment.
If we do that then we will automatically become "a power to reckon with" not just in the NER, but in the whole country.
Best regards,
Amitabh Atreya (2357)
Let us all first have a
Let us all first have a office at Ghy (Rupnagar)and thereby have marathan discussion regarding the ways and means of celebrating the golden jubilee at ssg.
My next suggestion is that the names of the ex-ssgians be put serially in the membership folio.

binoy da, see all x
binoy da, see all x ssgians cant visit the upcoming office at Ghy(rupnagar)..many constraint is there of which time constraint is most important, I am not discouraging the opening of the office , where as i am trying to use the this site of ours to discuss about whatever we can do or should do.see dont take me otherwise, whatever sentiments u have for ur almater , i do also have the same senti, so its my duty to reach maximum no of idea's through this media, and not waiting for one single day when the meeting happens and god know how many ex ssgians turns up that day.
So i kindly request you not to discourage my idea of reaching maximum no of ex students by saying"""""Let us all first have a office at Ghy (Rupnagar)and thereby have marathan discussion regarding the ways and means of celebrating the golden jubilee at ssg""""
Ideas can be shared without having a meeting /gettogether,I know you might be having many better n efficent ideas, please pen them down so we can read it and think on it.

PPlease don't print this e-mail unless you really need to, spread environmental awarness, be a voice & not a victim
lets plan our contribution for our forth coming goldenjubilee ce
Shall we start preparing a list with all the possible things or support that we OB can provide to our almamater.later we can shortlist and filter whichever are the best possibilities.Runjun da has already mentioned that some discussion has already started to build a class 1 cafeteria(unlike bania canteen)
Reply to Shankar Dutta's comment on class 1 cafeteris
Why a class 1 cafeteria is to be constructed, when we have the biggest mess.
Apart from regular meals , provision should be introduced for snaks/food on demand , the cost of which can be realised from the incidental a/c of each students. Menues of available items are to b made available. Mess manager should be dynamic. Quality of food are to be improved.
Ask why, i suggested......
It is very easy to start a cafeteria, but to maintain its standard is very very difficult. And since sufficient personnel are engaged in mess, the purpose will be served with addition of 2-3 expert cook.
just a thought.
i totally second dipu da's idea... A canteen's requirement of some cooks, infrastructure etc can be established... but dont neglect the fact that it will surely be on tender basis.. thus basis hygiene, maintenance and upkeep of the facility has a very high probability of getting jeopardized over time. agreed that it can be avoided ... nevertheless why get compromised when we can come up with better ideas.
i think the mess is one of the most under-utilized basic facility in the system.
yes.. new plates, seating arrangements, floor work and some tins of white wash has indicated a so called development.... but not entirely. A premier defence institution of the state must bring up the facility like what it is meant to be. I am talking about a entire upliftment of the kitchen.... which includes
. a befitting cold storage (quantity and quality catered)
. an equally good dry ration storage room.
. dish washing and drying facility
( school's str=700... NDA=1800+.. IMA=2000+.. AFA=500+ )
. re-estb the school poultry and piggery farm
. steam/solar cooking facility at a larger quantum
. a more edible diet planned out (age group 11- 18)
. a trained staff in conjunction to diet and facility management
i know there are a thousand more modifications feasible here but we need to start too. we have the available space behind the mess for a new construction and keep the present kitchen active till reqd. the plan may sound far fetched but why not...
a good diet will suffice all cadets with the required standards of taste, quality and save the authorities from the wrath of parents, sick students etc.. and of course fulfill the long-due honour to the magnificent building.
i m sure my seniors with all their age and experience can shower some light to this appeal of a relatively younger brother ....
with regards

Our Contribution
Rupam and others,
I think we are losing track. When you compare with the NDA, IMA/AFA/NA and other defence establishments, we should not forget that these are all part of KLPs. There is no monetary contribution from the users. Opening guest houses, cafes and CSD in the school campus should be left to the principal and the LBA (in our time the chairman was the GOC 101 Area). Those of you in the Assam government should try to put in your bit and draw the attention of people concerned.
In case you want guest rooms, cafe and shopping complex in the Guwahati office, so be it.
As an OBA, let us concentrate on our social responsibilities. We may think of providing support each year to a deserving but needy student to join the school and nurture him throughout his stay. Try and visit the local and remote schools in your areas to identify such probables. The harsh truth is that boys from well-off families are avoiding joining SSG nowadays. So let us turn our sights elsewhere. Blood donation camp, some have already been held, is a noble idea. We can also conduct adult literacy programmes. Why not run coaching classes for aspiring students of class V to crack the sainik school entrance exam?

Good initiative
Good initiative Sankar,
As per Kamal Kishore Da's advice lets take the initiative of building the Class I standard Canteen and Guest house in the school campus
