Honourable Chief Minister sir, President, Respected senior members of the association, brothers and my friends
It is my privilege to present the Annual report for our Alumni. We strive to enhance the social bonds of the Alumni
with their schoolmates along with their families and friends. I am proud to say that we have stepped one step ahead
in achieving our desired goal for the year under the umbrella of OBA, SSG.
I fondly remember the days when the seeds for this association were being sown some 14-15 years back. For the first
few years, we took it on us to organise a contributory dinner every December. Despite several hurdles – like having
no seed money and having no clue about the number of participants – we managed to do this. What prevailed was the
spirit of being an SSGian. People came and appreciated the effort and some even made good the shortfalls by contributing
generously so that we did not land in financial trouble.
I took the charge of the General Secretary on 8th Jan 2009. The detail activity of the association is reflected in our
president’s report. My basic responsibility was to successful completion of the AGM. Hence my time and work were limited.
Honourable members will appreciate that unless the association is broad based, and we have additional volunteers for
taking up these activities, it is not possible for a small group of Executive Body members only to try and expand the
scope of our activities. I again request you to please come out and help us in making the association more vibrant.
To come back to another important item: the member database. Despite our best efforts, we have found that every time a
mailing campaign – whether electronic or otherwise – is carried out, about 30% of the e-mails are not delivered, which
reflects our inability to reach out to you. We have already launched the official website www.obassg.com. Members are
requested to register their profiles and get their own e-mail address like xyz@obassg.com. On behalf of the association,
I request you again to please drop a mail at info@obassg.com, or update your changes in the web site, so that the database
can be updated. We are also trying to have software created, which will make it easier for us to maintain the database –
if some member can help, it would be appreciated. Please also participate by sharing your ideas on how the reach of the
association can be improved.
We have transferred our Bank Account from PNB to SBI, Six Mile Branch in the name of OBA SSG with the Internet banking
facility to have a transparent system of accessibility on 12th January 2009. New Account No is 30641981434 and the SBI
Branch Code is SBIN0010327. The monthly bank statement will be uploaded in the web site www.obassg.com.
The process of registration of OBA, SSG under the societies act 1860 is in the pipeline and we assure the honourable
members to complete the process at the earliest possible.
The Honourable members may find the Souvenir 2009 to have more of articles and write ups; we have attempted this year
to try and make the Souvenir a compendium of the literary capabilities of our members and their families, in addition
to it carrying the directory of members and messages. I would like to thank all of you who have contributed, and the
editorial and printing team that has edited and compiled all these, and in a tight time frame, got the souvenir printed.
I extend my sincere thanks to:
